Since their release of Best Buds, California punk group Mom Jeans has been making waves in the pop-punk/emo world. The band is currently making a new record that is quasi-conceptual named Sweet Tooth. The record is the first time the band has experienced an entire studio experience, which shows in the final record.

Who has the most influenced your work or why?

I can't represent the other group members; I'm not certain whether there's a common musical or artistic influence that truly motivated us as a band. I'd say that each of our middle or high school band directors/music teachers could have had the greatest influence on us all. We all were fortunate to be part of fantastic music programs when we were teenagers. That director and teachers helped us develop an amazing foundation of musical wisdom that we could build upon. I'm honestly not sure that we'd ever reached the stage of being individuals at which we could even be a part of a group without the mentorship and guidance we received from them.

Emo/punk groups Mom Jeans, Origami Angel, Save Face, along Pool Kids will take off for a fall tour. Before returning to the West Coast, the tour begins in Denver before heading to the Midwest and on the East Coast, Texas, and more.

This super cool four-band show will be playing at The Brooklyn's Warsaw on November 20 ( tickets) and Asbury Park's Asbury Lanes on November 24 ( tickets). Origami Angel released their very excellent Double album GAMI GANG earlier in the year. It's been a long time since we've heard new songs from the other bands, but this may change soon.
