The clothes of the Monster High dolls are designed to reflect their character. Each doll has a monster it is based on which provides the creative starting point for its costume design. For example, Frankie Stein is based on Dr. Frankenstein's monster, so her clothes often feature bolts and stitches.

The materials used to make a Monster High doll are mostly synthetic. Barbie, made by Mattel, also uses polyester, nylon and saran for its doll's hair as well as plastic acrylic and vinyl (Resnick, 2018).

Many of the same clothes that fit Barbie will also fit a Monster High doll. However, the outfits are a little different and the torsos of these dolls may be too long for some G1 and G3 MH outfits.
