Since 1986, Emperor Specialty Foods Ltd has been a trusted importer and distributor of high-quality specialty foods, including fresh and dried mushrooms, truffles, and other gourmet items. The company began by producing fresh shiitake mushrooms but expanded its operations in 1995 to include importing mushrooms from China and local sources. By 1998, Emperor Specialty Foods Ltd was the first Canadian company to import fresh mushrooms from China via ocean shipment, allowing them to broaden their distribution network throughout Canada and into the U.S. In 2001, the company opened an office in China, increasing their supplier base and expanding their offerings to include imported fruits and vegetables. They also produce certified organic fresh shiitake mushrooms in Vancouver.
