Shine
Shine: Mental Health Support, Advocacy, Education is a national mental health organisation dedicated to supporting people affected by mental illness and their families across Ireland. With a strong focus on recovery, inclusion, and empowerment, Shine provides accessible information, practical support, and advocacy to help individuals navigate mental health challenges and live fulfilling lives.
Shine delivers a wide range of services, including individual and family support, recovery-focused workshops, and educational programmes that promote understanding and resilience. Central to its approach is peer support, recognising the value of lived experience in fostering hope, connection, and recovery. Through community engagement initiatives, Shine works directly with individuals, families, workplaces, and communities to build awareness and strengthen mental health supports nationwide.
In addition to direct services, Shine leads impactful national awareness campaigns, most notably the annual Green Ribbon Campaign, which encourages open conversations about mental health and challenges stigma and discrimination. Advocacy is a core pillar of Shine’s work, ensuring that the voices of people with lived experience are heard and that mental health policies and services reflect real needs.
Guided by compassion, respect, and recovery principles, Shine is committed to ending mental health stigma and ensuring that everyone in Ireland has access to understanding, support, and opportunities for mental wellbeing.
