Puig Hair Restoration Center
Follicular unit extraction, or FUE, is a hair transplant technique that is minimally invasive. It allows patients who are experience hair loss to restore hair to a specific area of the body without any scarring or stitches.
The basics of FUE involve removing follicular units from a specified donor area and individually transplanting them to the recipient area or the area where the hair is thinning. The process involves using a small, automated extraction tool to find and remove the grafts that are then transplanted to the new area.
Before performing FUE, a surgeon will typically require a patient to shave the hair in the donor area short. This allows the physician/surgeon to visualize the area and work on the patient's scalp.
