Point Cook Community

Point Cook is a Melbourne, Victoria, Australia suburb located 22 kilometers (14 miles) southwest of Melbourne's Central Business District and within the City of Wyndham local government area. The population of Point Cook was 66,781 according to the 2021 census. The RAAF Base is located at Point Cook. The Royal Australian Air Force was founded at Point Cook, which now houses the RAAF Museum. Point Cook also has a number of playgrounds and parks/public spaces. The Point Cook Coastal Park's wetlands are part of the Cheetham and Altona Important Bird Area. The suburb's major development began in the late 1990s. Point Cook's population has increased rapidly since 2001 when it was 1,737 people. The population of Point Cook was 49,929 at the time of the 2016 census, and it had risen to 60,105 by 2018.
