Back in my previous life as a photographer, my website was hacked and because I didn't have a backup... I lost everything.  I had all my original photos, but the years of building my website up just how I liked it was gone in the blink of an eye. My website was actually sitting there hacked for a couple of days before I realised.  It was embarrassing and really hard to actually take the hacked website down.  I learnt a lot through that process though, and there were a couple of easy things I could have done to make it hard enough to not be worth the bother.
