What Your Journey Looks Like

Day 1: The Ascent to the Sun Gate. Your tour with localtrekkersperu begins with a pickup from your hotel in Cusco. We'll then take a scenic train ride to Km. 104, the starting point of your trek. The first part of the journey is a 3-hour hike to the stunning archaeological site of Wiñaywayna (2650 masl). This is a great opportunity to see and appreciate the impressive Inca architecture. After a satisfying lunch, we continue for about 2 more hours to reach the Sun Gate (Inti Punku). From this incredible viewpoint, you’ll get your very first glimpse of the Citadel of Machu Picchu. From there, we descend to Aguas Calientes, where we will check into our hotel. We will then have a dinner and a briefing from your guide about the next day's visit.

Day 2: Exploring the Main Event. After breakfast, you can choose to hike up for about 1 hour and 40 minutes or take a bus to the main entrance of Machu Picchu. Once inside, your certified guide from localtrekkersperu will provide a two-hour tour, explaining the history and significance of the main sites. After the guided tour, you’ll have plenty of free time to explore the citadel on your own. You can even choose to climb Huaynapicchu or Machu Picchu Mountain, but you must let us know in advance as spaces for these are limited. After your visit, you will return to Aguas Calientes to catch your train back to Ollantaytambo. Our private transport will be waiting to take you back to your hotel in Cusco. • Tour Includes: A bilingual and certified guide, all permits and entrance fees, a pre-trek briefing, private transport, bus and train tickets, one night in a hotel, a snack for the trek, meals (lunch and dinner) based on your dietary preferences, and a first-aid kit with an oxygen balloon.

• Tour Excludes: Extra personal expenses, optional mountain climbs ($70 extra), walking sticks (rentable for $20), mineral water, and the first breakfast, last lunch, and dinner. Tips are not required but are welcome.

• Physical Grading: Day 1 is a 3/5, and Day 2 is a 2/5.
